Summer holiday activities around Bracknell Forest

The summer holidays are here, and parents and carers will find a huge range of activities on offer in Bracknell Forest.

The borough has so many green spaces and parks to explore with fun, free activities to do, from seeing highland cows at Frost Folly to den building at The Look Out.

Parks 

Lily Hill Park has:

  • carved sculptures such as the Green Man and the Story Telling Throne
  • the amphitheatre
  • the balance beam tree
  • the world’s largest picnic bench.
  • brass rubbing wildlife trail

South Hill Park has:

  • educational nature trail with wildlife themed wood carvings
  • a maze
  • play area
  • woodlands

Jennett’s Hill has:

  • multi-use games areas (MUGAs) including a basketball court
  • play areas for all ages
  • teenage shelter
  • medieval sunken lane
  • wildflower meadow
  • small pine and broadleaved woodland
  • public art sculptures

Summer Reading Challenge

Join up for the free Summer Reading Challenge at our libraries. With a theme of ‘story garden’, children aged four to 11 can discover new books, earn rewards and take part in nature-inspired events and activities.

Family hub summer activities

The family hubs are running a series of fun events for families with young children. 

From drop-in family play sessions to Lego Duplo maths sessions, there is something for everyone to enjoy. 

Coral Reef Waterworld

Coral Reef Waterworld has:

  • a pirate ship

The Look Out Discovery Centre

The Look Out Discovery Centre has:

  • hands on science exhibition (booking required)
  • play area
  • woodlands to explore

Summer of Fun events

The free Summer of Fun events are being held around the borough. These events, organised by the town and parish councils, include inflatables, circus skills, balloon modelling, side stalls, refreshments and so much more.

Holiday Activities Food Programme

There is also support available for people struggling financially through the holiday activities and food programme (HAF).

The HAF programme is open to children who are registered to receive benefits related free school meals. Activities include:

  • sports
  • arts and crafts
  • performing arts
